  • Mattins Service Sermon 16/11/2025

    Mattins Service Sermon 16/11/2025

Introduction: One of the greatest pleasures in a Christian’s life is the ability to praise God. The Lord is God in the good time and also God in the bad times.
The Psalm 89 tells us that praise is not dependent on circumstances but rooted in God’s character.

Nathan the psalmist reminds us of 2 unchanging attributes of God:

    1. The mercies of God
    2. The faithfulness of God.
By God’s mercies we are not consumed and of His faithfulness we have been restored.

    Lessons from the Psalm 89:1
    i. Declaration of praise: Praise is a choice and act of the will. The Psalmist said “I will sing”. Whether in good or bad, he showed intentionality.
Worship is not determined by feelings but by faith.

    • Praise is a choice anchored in conviction not convenience.
    • Praise is a testimony that God is in control. When we sing in difficult times we declare to our soul that God is still God and He is unshaken.

ii. The content of our praise: Praise has a content and the content of the Psalmist praise is “the mercies of the Lord endures forever”.

    • It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because every morning He renews His mercies towards us.
    • The mercies of God are eternal. Human mercy fades but God’s mercy is forever.
    • Every miracle, every teaching, every act of compassion is the mercy of God.
Ps.23:6a “surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life”.

Praise is not silent admiration but a vocal proclamation with your mouth. It silences the enemy and strengthens the church.

Conclusion: Be practical in your approach

    • Choose to praise God daily
    • Cultivate the habit of thanking God.
    • Keep a record of God’s mercies.
    • Remember what God has done.
    • Speak of God’s faithfulness daily. Don’t be ashamed
    • Mentor the younger generation. Let every generation hear that the Lord is good.

As you testify and inspire somebody today, may God’s mercy and faithfulness continue to be evident in your life in Jesus name, amen!!!
